The agarwood tree is an evergreen tree which grows moderately straight up to a height of about 18 to 21 meters. Its botanical name is Aquilaria Malaccensis. The Agarwood Attar has an attractive woody masculine fragrance which is made from natural agarwood. It is also known by the name of Aloeswood/Oudh being derived from the Agarwood tree. The oil which is derived from it is the most expensive and most sought after oil in the world as it is very scarce. The process of resin formation from the mold on the trees takes hundreds of years to complete. This oil has been used for thousands of years to bring enlightenment, to enhance meditation and as an aphrodisiac as well.The Indian sages used it to help themselves attain spiritual perfection and enlightenment. Enclosing a classical Oudh scent it has a musky, earthy, potent and deep aroma due to which it is highly priced and valued.

It mixes well with all other oils and has a purifying, warming, deep woodsy, transcendent and balancing qualities. It has a dark brown color and possesses a balsamic odor. It blends well with Geranium, sandalwood and carnation. Its trees can be found across the Southeast Asian forests of Bengal, Burma, China, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia and Vietnam as well. The oil is non-sticky in nature and can be used directly in the skin. It use should be avoided during pregnancy and should always be used in its diluted form.
